Main duties and responsibilities

The Fire Protection Specialist coordinates all fire and emergency activities for the MDF Boards Plant and ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The position is responsible for developing, communicating, and maintaining a simple but effective fire safety program that meets regulated standards. This is a day shift position but is on call 24/7 for emergencies, equipment failure and alarms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Intermediate to advanced experience with electrical / mechanical maintenance and repair procedures
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Ability to write and communicate Standard Operating Procedures
• Demonstrated high energy level, strong work ethic, and positive approach to problem solving.
• The ability to use power tools, measuring devices, and other hand tools.
• The ability to read and comprehend complex data including mechanical, electrical, and piping drawings and schematics.
• The ability to work with others in identifying and solving complex manufacturing problems.
• The ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
• The ability to work at heights exceeding 60 feet with the aid of man lifts and/or ladders/platforms
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• The ability to be on call 24/7 and on holidays as required

Requirements

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of firefighting procedures and fire inspections
• Associate's degree in industrial maintenance, electrical, electronics or related field OR equivalent experience
