Main duties and responsibilities

• Closely monitor cost, quality, production, deliveries, and process improvement issues and communicate with Site Management and direct reports.
• Provide direction to subordinates and Maintenance Department to ensure minimization of scheduled and unscheduled downtime.
• Establish and ensure compliance with Manufacturing Best Practices and PDM standards
• Prepare reports for distribution to senior management.
• Provide oversight of daily production & shipping objectives and ensure goals are attained
• Communicate with Site Management on cost savings initiatives including redesigning/re-engineering equipment and space (PIP)

• Assist in dealing with customer satisfaction issues
• Cooperate with product certification/standardization agencies to ensure compliance with legislative and industry standards for product specifications and testing procedures
• Ensure compliance with procedures for finished product quality and control of non-conforming product.
• Support product and process development and enhancement and cost reduction.
• Support process optimization efforts to include board specifications and resin formulation
• Analyze data and implement problem solving techniques in order to reduce process variation
• Coordinate recording and reporting of quality parameters according to Kronospan standards
• Provide direction in the areas of staffing, training, goal setting, work schedules, and staff development.
• Conduct annual assessment of direct reports and the direct and honest communication of performance accomplishments and deficiencies.
• Establish timelines for performance improvement goals
• Monitor all engineering projects to ensure successful completion with regard to cost, schedule, and safety
• Work with Maintenance Management to ensure mechanical/electrical failures are held to a minimum; establish expectations relative to unscheduled downtime

• Assist with the sale and customer service of raw and laminated particleboard to external customers
• Assist in building and expanding external customer base
• Assist in advising customers on technical issues related to the use of particleboard
• Responsible for OSHA required safety programs
• Responsible for environmental issues associated with particleboard production
• Coordinate with Purchasing Department to ensure most advantageous terms for raw material, equipment, and supply cost and quality are achieved
• This position is located in Simsboro, LA

Requirements

5-10 years in a particleboard manufacturing facility

Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word
Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Wood Technology, Business, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience with a high school degree
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work with little or no direct supervision
• Excellent diplomacy skills and the ability to use them with all levels
• Advanced understanding of financial practices
• Advanced mediation and negotiating skills
• Advanced technical ability (particleboard production)
• Advanced understanding of particleboard sales practices
