Main duties and responsibilities

To purchase roundwood, chips, wood residuals, and wood waste fuel for Kronospan facilities. The position is also responsible for assisting with obtaining buyers for and the selling of excess chips or wood waste fuel. The position is also responsible for the management of chipping operations and chip transportation.

Requirements

• Negotiate with vendors for the best possible price and service guarantee
• Develop new supply sources as needed
• Assist accounting department in establishing account/credit and terms
• Ensure ethical dealings with all vendors and contractors
• Follow up on receipt of goods
• Maintain positive relationship with vendors
• Receive, analyze, and resolve supplier inquiries, disputes, and payment discrepancies
• Purchase timber / wood chips to be delivered to the Simsboro facility.
• Organize scale house data collection.
• Manage roundwood and chip inventory.
• Organize outselling of chips when inventories permit.
• Develop long term relationships with various wood suppliers.
• Develop safe operating procedures associated with purchasing wood.
• Manage wood quality to insure favorable wood yield.
• Explore alternate wood supply opportunities.
• Bachelor's degree in forestry or related field OR equivalent experience in a timber procurement managerial role
