Main duties and responsibilities
The Buyer position is responsible for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment and services. Responsible for the competitive purchase of a wide variety of parts, material, equipment, supplies, assemblies, commodities, Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) items and services . Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Negotiate with vendors for the best price purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services used by Kronospan
• Conduct research on new supplies and materials
• Communicate with production, maintenance, and stores to ensure proper part type and quantity are ordered
• Solicit bids and examine quotes
• Assist accounting department in establishing account/credit and terms
• Negotiate blanket purchase orders and monitor cost during the designated time period
• Review requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers
• Follow up on receipt of goods
• Maintain positive relationship with vendors
• Reconcile all documents associated with orders placed to ensure accuracy
• Post invoices
• Acts as a mediator, as required, between users and suppliers concerning delivery, quality, pricing issues, etc.
• Assist in Request for Quote or product bids, including preparation, analysis, evaluation and implementation.
• Receive, analyze, and resolve supplier inquiries, disputes, and payment discrepancies
Requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Strong customer service skills and sense of urgency
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Experience as an MRO or raw materials buyer
• Advanced skills using Microsoft office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience working within the purchasing module of an ERP system
• Ability to work in a team environment
