Main duties and responsibilities

The purpose of the position is to manage all aspects of maintenance, installation, testing, and improvements/modifications of equipment, buildings, grounds, and utilities. To plan, implement and monitor facility maintenance programs to include construction and repair. To supervise facility staff and contractors in the performance of assigned tasks. To conduct technical analyses and studies to determine infrastructures, facility and physical plant needs. Confirm that work is performed in accordance with all applicable guidelines and established practices.
• Monitor all projects to ensure successful completion with regard to cost, schedule, and safety
• Manage the performance of on-site contractors. Ensure contractors comply with all state, local, and company rules and procedures
• Review accuracy of invoices from contractors
• Schedule major maintenance and repair projects
• Communicate and consult with EHS Manager on handling and disposal of hazardous waste and empty drums, implementing and maintaining safety equipment, and coordinating fire drills
• In cooperation with the Environmental manager, manage the chemical control program for the site Maintenance Department
• Communicate and consult with Purchasing Manager on parts and equipment purchases and project management
• Assist in the purchasing of supply / repair supplies and equipment

• Lead and direct team to include safety, staffing, quality of work, cost, training, work schedules and assignments, and morale
• Ensure compliance with site and company rules and procedures and consult with HR when questions arise.
• Instill a sense of professionalism, integrity, and cooperation within the department
• Assist in the development of training programs to maintain and advance the skill sets of the maintenance team
• Provide current, direct, complete, and “actionable” positive and corrective feedback to subordinates
• Assist technicians in diagnosing and correcting equipment failures using a hands-on approach
• Ensure effectiveness of preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance programs for all equipment including but not limited to production equipment, HVAC, fire system, utilities, compressors, insulation, roofing, and infrastructure (roads, gutters, drains, etc.).
• Coordinate and oversee maintenance, construction, renovation and repair activities.
• Monitor work of vendors and contractors and confirm that work is performed in accordance with all applicable guidelines and established practices.

Requirements

• Strong leadership / motivational skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong managerial courage to confront issues quickly, consistently, and directly
• Ability to be on-call for facilities emergencies 24/
• Ability to work extended hours and shifts on non-traditional workdays or holidays during emergencies
• Must display original thinking and creativity through resourcefulness, suggestions, and problem solving
• Must be able to effectively interact in a multi-cultural environment
• Must have excellent math skills including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages as well as to create and interpret graph and chart information
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
experience
• 5-7 years in a fast paced, industrial environment
