Main duties and responsibilities

The Shift Leader for the Particle Board Department is responsible for safety, cost, quality, and on-time delivery of products for their shift. The Shift Leader is also responsible for housekeeping, cleanliness of machinery, cost effective supply utilization, discipline, and morale on their shift. Areas of responsibility include but not limited to Pre-Production, Press and Finishing. The person in this position may also perform the PB Finishing Leader's role.

• Demonstrated ability to creatively solve complex problems
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Particle Board manufacturing methods and equipment OR advanced mechanical / electrical knowledge or refiner or press operator knowledge.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates
• Ability to lead through demonstration, communication, and reinforcement
• Ability to make logical, unemotional decisions in stressful situations
• Ability to multi-task in fast paced situations
• Basic to Intermediate computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and/or in a team environment
• Excellent time management skills
• Must have the qualities of stress tolerance, persistence, self-control, self-organization, integrity and flexibility
• 3+ years of production experience in a wood panel manufacturing environment
• Degree in Forest Products, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Chemistry or similar discipline
• 3+ years in a position of leadership
• Advanced knowledge of product quality standards and end uses
