Kronospan is a global leader in the manufacturing of wood-based panels, with 42 state-of-the-art manufacturing sites across the globe. As part of a larger group with a strong reputation for innovation and excellence in the industry, we are now expanding our operations in Australia. We're looking for an Operations Manager to join our Sydney-based start-up team and lead the development and scaling up of a distribution hub in Sydney for the Oceania market.
As part of a global network, you'll have the opportunity to influence the direction of the business in Australia while collaborating with manufacturing sites across the world. This role offers the unique chance to work in a dynamic start-up environment backed by the resources and expertise of a global manufacturing powerhouse.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Lead the set-up and day-to-day operations of a new Australian facility, ensuring efficient processes and operational excellence across all areas.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to align with the company's global standards while meeting local market needs and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistent operational practices, leveraging the expertise and resources available across Kronospan's 42 manufacturing sites.
• Manage and lead the warehousing and operations team, to ensure high service standards.
• Ensure best logistic solutions for receiving and distributing the goods across Australia.
• Supervise the import process, including custom procedures and comply with all local regulations and requirements.
• Keep a close eye on the bottom line to ensure a steady-ship, with minimum cost, maximum turnover
• Responsible for stock and warehouse management, following orders and deliveries as per customer request.
• Ensure compliance with Australian industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
• Report on operational performance and progress to both the Australian leadership team and the global parent company.
• Recruitment and development of a small team initially.

Requirements

• Proven experience in operations management, ideally within manufacturing or distribution/warehousing environments.
• Background in managing operations, logistics, imports and customs procedures for a global company or large-scale manufacturing business is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
• Deep understanding of quality assurance, customer service and supply chain management.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills in complex operational environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with both local and international teams.
• Proficiency with business and manufacturing management software, ERP systems, and other relevant tools.
• Degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and manufacturing compliance in Australia is a plus.
