Main duties and responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Finishing Line Lead Operator's position is to perform all assigned process tasks, including but not limited to, the safe operations of MDF sanding/finishing equipment to produce MDF panels to required specifications. The Finishing Line Lead Operator also serves as the lead person in the Finishing Area with the authority to give instructions under the direction of the Finishing Leader. Additionally, the the Lead Operator will be required to perform basic, routine equipment maintenance and cleaning on all machinery and workspaces in the assigned area of responsibility. The operator will also be required to identify board conditions which internal or external customers would deem unacceptable and initiate the proper corrective action. The Lead Operator serves as the first point of contact for troubleshooting equipment and process issues, coaching employees, and communicating priorities between production teams and supervision. Further duties may include assisting maintenance personnel, when requested, in the troubleshooting, repair, or preventive maintenance of equipment in order to support continuous operations on the production line.

This position will be required to work a rotating shift schedule including weekends.

Requirements

•Strong Leadership skills
•Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Finishing Line processes
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Demonstrated high energy level, strong work ethic, and positive approach to problem solving.
• Basic computer skills including the ability to manipulate a mouse, move between screens, and interpret data.
• The ability to use power tools, measuring devices, and other hand tools.
• The ability to read and comprehend complex data.
• The ability to perform basic preventive maintenance procedures.
• The ability to work with others in identifying and solving complex manufacturing problems.
• The ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
