Logistics Manager
We are a fast paced, dynamic environment with over 120 full loads of finished product leaving site on any given day, making us one of the largest consumers of transport in the North West.
Main duties and responsibilities
The role
• Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, the position entails full managerial responsibility for logistical operations on site such as:- haulage & distribution (including export), warehouse management & inventory accuracy, and leading the logistics team to deliver excellent customer service in a next day delivery environment
• With a transport budget in excess of £15m, the Logistics Manager is responsible for negotiating with freight providers, mobile plant suppliers and plant/fleet maintenance contractors to ensure a cost effective, customer focused service is provided
• We operate 500,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space with a warehouse team operating 24hrs / 7 days per week, the Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring we have efficient warehouse processes
• Focused on maximizing productivity and minimizing waste in the warehouse the role involves maintaining accurate inventory & excellent pack presentation whilst increasing capacity by implementing continuous improvement strategies within both warehousing & distribution
• Overall responsibility for the health, safety, environmental and housekeeping performance of the department, and also responsible for the performance management & development of the Logistics Team
Requirements
• You will be an experienced senior manager, ideally within a 24 hour, 7 day warehousing and distribution operation.
• With considerable business acumen, you will thrive on negotiating the best deal.
• You will be have a decisive character with the enthusiasm and drive to deliver on time, all of the time.
• Liaising daily with customers, hauliers, and sales & production management, you will be an excellent communicator with an eye for detail, as well as possessing strong numerical and IT skills .
• The successful candidate will be highly experienced in complex warehouse management systems, the contract haulage market, and with mobile plant fleet management.
