Main duties and responsibilities
The Sr. Purchasing Manager contributes to the planning, development, communication and implementation of the Company's global procurement activities. The Sr. Purchasing Manager manages the procurement lifecycle with current and future vendors. The position manages vendor relationships, monitors contract expirations, partners closely with internal stakeholders on strategies, and initiates renewal negotiations with suppliers.
The Sr. Purchasing Manager represents Kronospan in commercial negotiations with vendors to drive favorable pricing and terms, and ensures risk mitigation. The position leads strategic, potentially complex, multi-faceted negotiations with vendors, including technical service providers critical to Kronospan's day-to-day operations and long-term success.
Other duties:
• Advise and support regional purchasing teams in the timely sourcing, fulfillment and implementation of quality goods/services supplier engagement strategies that deliver cost savings, cash benefit, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure negotiations with vendors / contractors result in the most favorable terms and guarantees for Kronospan.
• Create and monitor procurement KPI's/metrics. Develop metrics to measure procurement's impact on the organization and track progress to goals.
• Oversee purchasing staff with vendor / contractor negotiation and contracts
• Manage the long-term business relationships with suppliers, demonstrating sound principles of cultivating broad knowledge of supplier's capabilities and performance history to drive successful business decisions and outcomes.
• Monitor cost of commodities including chemicals and steel and make strategic procurement decisions.
• Negotiate blanket purchase orders and monitor cost during the designated time period
• Responsible for strategic management and oversight of pricing on negotiations with new suppliers, complex contracts and rates.
• Examine current supplier relationships across the organization to identify, qualify, and drive approval for alternate suppliers and materials as needed.
• Provide cost forecast information and analyse each organization's spend volume; determine overall procurement approach based on magnitude of dollars, strategic importance and opportunity for increased value
• Evaluate and recommend purchasing and sourcing decisions to leadership.
• Develop, implement and manage multi-year contracts.
• Work to minimize inventory levels to maximize cash flow, working capital and storage capabilities while ensuring adequate inventory to support business needs.
• Develop and create national sourcing plans, requests for proposal, and other sourcing documents and processes.
• Prepare, justify, and administer the department budget.
• Develop consistent parts inventory system common to all North American sites•
Requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong customer service skills and sense of urgency
• Advanced knowledge of the legal terminology and language related to supplier and/or vendor agreements and contracts.
• Advanced experience with ERP systems.
• Knowledge of contract procedures, data analysis/interpretation, financial analysis, forecasting and legal limitations.
