Main duties and responsibilities

The Product Manager is responsible for oversight of the product development and product life cycle processes. The position works closely with sales, marketing & design, and operations to develop products consistent with market trends and customer requirements while optimizing manufacturing efficiencies. The position combines strategy, marketing information, leadership, project management and other skills with the end goal of a successful product launch. This is a salaried exempt position and is not eligible for overtime.
• Set up and manage market intelligence database that includes competitive pricing, specifications, specific market issues, new product requests and other relevant market information.
• Define the release process and coordinate all of the activities required to bring the product to market.
• Manage or assist in managing from concept to design, sample production, testing, forecast, cost, production, promotion, support, and product end of life.
• Gather and analyze data and business intelligence from competitors, customers, prospects, key industry analysts, and other sources
• Manage production, coordination, and tracking of all sampling efforts, both post- production and prototypes for multiple manufacturing sites.
• Work cross functionally for process improvements and other initiatives such as value engineering for multiple manufacturing sites.
• Work closely with the operations team to make sure item launches on time and runs smoothly for multiple manufacturing sites.
• Manage System item creation and maintenance as well as possess ownership of item specification sheets and other product related support items.
• Work closely with Sales to ensure product offerings align closely with global strategies and targets.
• Guide product launches through various external processes including external third party testing, onboarding, and certifications.
• Participate in and review all first-article production runs, assuring compliance with market requirements and approving first article runs in production when possible.
• Compile market comparisons of flooring quality and analyze risks.
• Handle daily inquiries from internal departments regarding product issues
• Work closely with sales to understand/resolve claims related to packaging and product
• Work with Marketing to ensure the maintenance of product data on customer web pages including product descriptions, product specifications, warranty information, pricing, and product overview.
• Insure technical specifications for the product are accurate and adhere to product guidelines
• Act as the customer advocate articulating the user's and/or buyer's needs
• Attend customer meetings with sales team to provide technical support when needed
• Travel to customer sites to support product launches, product meetings, quality issues, etc.

• Professional demeanor with excellent written, oral communication & listening skills
• Ability to understand advanced manufacturing concepts
• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a forest products related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Must be proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to learn additional specialty external systems as necessary.
