Main duties and responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Chemical Plant Shuttle Driver/Utility's position is to haul freight to designated areas while shuttling safely, efficiently, and damage free, perform a pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection on all equipment each shift, comply with all DOT regulations, perform various duties as needed, including but not limited to, unloading of railcars, moving rail cars utilizing an automated tugger, general cleaning and assisting with basic machine repair.

Requirements

• Ability to pass performance/qualification drivers review.
• Basic computer skills
• Demonstrated high energy level, strong work ethic, and positive approach to problem solving.
• Excellent attendance and disciplinary records
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates.
• The ability to drive a forklift or the ability to learn to drive a forklift in a specified length of time
• The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
• The ability to read, comprehend, and react to complex data.
• The ability to use power tools, measuring devices, and other hand tools.
• The ability to work effectively with other members of the facility team
• The ability to work with others in identifying and solving complex manufacturing problems.
• The ability to work independently without constant supervision
• The ability to visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair or adjustments
• The ability to perform preventive maintenance procedures as scheduled or directed to include tightening fittings, gaskets, valves, gauges, filters, and other components and to oil and lubricate equipment.
• Sitting, face shield/goggles, dust mask/respirator, hard hat and high visibility vest occasionally required up to 1/3 of time.
• Walking, climbing, lifting, push/pulling, reaching, bending, written communication, ear plugs frequently required 1/3 to ½ of time.
• Seeing, hearing, standing, dexterity, verbal communication and safety glasses continuously required 2/3 or more of time

WHAT WILL PUT YOU AHEAD:
• Advanced knowledge of chemical production equipment and procedures
• 3-5 years experience driving a tractor trailer
