Main duties and responsibilities

This position will work with production, management, and administrative personnel, as-well-as with vendors to improve the design, installation, maintenance and operation of all types of control devices and electronic accessories. Will work with computers, distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, electronic control devices, and miscellaneous peripherals that support mill production.
The PLC Programmer will work with users to troubleshoot problems with computing hardware and related electronic control systems.
• Program and manage process controls.
• Research and assist with problem solving process issues.
• Maintain documentation and communicate all changes with the process controls.
• Identify issues
• Help reduce variation in the process
• Improve process controls to increase profitability of the plant.
• Work with electrical staff on process control

Requirements

Prefer degree or must have at least 5 years of industrial experience with electronics, computers, control systems, or have equivalent technical education. Must have a solid understanding/ability of troubleshooting electronic components and control systems. Must have the ability to write PLC programs and have a working knowledge of PC programs. The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical mill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Minimal travel.
